TK Care’s Guide to Using the My Aged Care Portal

Planning for the assistance we might require to maintain a safe and comfortable lifestyle as we age is crucial. In Australia, the government provides assistance through subsidised aged care services, which can be received at an aged care facility or in your own home.

Our goal at TK Care is to ease your journey. This straightforward guide explains how to use the My Aged Care portal, which is the official platform for managing aged care services run by the Australian Government.

🧓 What is the Portal for My Aged Care?

An online tool that helps older Australians and their families manage their aged care journey is the My Aged Care portal. This portal allows you to:

  • Keep track of your care evaluations and authorisations.
  • Examine and control the services you are getting.
  • Get referral codes and make changes to your information.
  • Designate carers or family members as delegates.
  • Store and upload crucial documents.

When you need it most, this portal makes it simple and clear to access all of your aged care information in one secure location.

The Operation of Aged Care in Australia

As you get older, you might qualify for in-home assistance in the form of personal care, household help, meal preparation, or nursing support. Alternatively, you might think about moving into a residential care facility.

Depending on your financial circumstances, care may include:

funded by the government through initiatives like the Home Care Package (HCP)

privately financed, if you decide to make your own payments

Both funded and private clients are served by TK Care. We can assist you whether you are covered by a home care package or are just looking for guidance.

✅ Who Can Receive Government-Sponsored Elder Care?

In order to receive care that is subsidised through My Aged Care, you need to:

  • Be at least 65 years old (or 50+ if you’re Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander).
  • Be an Australian permanent resident.
  • Have an actual need for assistance, like:
  • Having trouble finishing daily tasks
  • Recent sickness, injury, or decreased mobility
  • Changes in living arrangements or the death of a carer
  • Your eligibility for support will be determined by an ACAT (Aged Care Assessment Team) evaluation.

🌐 “Portal”: What Does It Mean?

Simply put, a “portal” is a secure website that you can access. In this instance, you use a secure login to access your My Aged Care account on the myGov website.

It is made to make it simple for you, your loved ones, or your designated carer to view and manage all of your aged care information in one location.
